In its first year of eligibility, Gordon Ramsay at The London located in The London NYC, has been honored with two stars by the Michelin Guide New York City 2008.  The restaurant, Ramsay's first in the U.S., is among only six restaurants in New York City to receive the two star rating, the second highest rating available to a restaurant.  The Michelin Guide began rating restaurants and hotels in Europe more than a century ago and today publishes guides in 17 countries and two continents.  For restaurants, Michelin stars are based on five criteria: quality of products, mastery of flavor and cooking, "personality" of cuisine, value for money and consistency between visits.  Gordon Ramsay is one of the most starred chefs in the world.
